This course runs for four hours and forty-five minutes, between 10am – 2.45pm and can serve a maximum of 16 people.
- Understand the law relating to hazardous substances in the workplace
- Understand how risk assessments contribute to the safe use of hazardous substances in the workplace
- Understand the precautions and procedures necessary to ensure the risks associated with hazardous substances are properly controlled
This qualification is available to those over 14 years of age. No previous knowledge is required, although it is recommended that learners have a minimum of Level one literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
About the Qualification
YMCA Bournemouth has teamed with Robust Safety Solutions, registered with UK Qualifications Network (UKQN) as an authorised training centre, to deliver this nationally recognised qualification. The qualification is regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA Regulation in Northern Ireland.

This qualification indicates the individual can undertake a specific role in the workplace and can be relied upon by the employer to understand and complete basic hazardous substance risk assessments. The individual will have successfully learnt the course content which is designed to meet current UK legislation.
