A Prize Draw has been launched to support life-changing youth work on the Townsend estate in Bournemouth—an area where too many young people face barriers that limit their potential.

The Townsend Youth Partnership, supported by YMCA Bournemouth, is inviting the public to get involved and help raise vital funds for inclusive, community-based youth services. These services offer young people a safe space, a listening ear, and the opportunity to grow and thrive—especially those facing poverty, isolation, or poor mental health.

“This is about making sure no young person is left behind,” said Mark Inkpen, Joint Chief Operations Officer at YMCA Bournemouth. “Our youth workers are a constant presence in the lives of young people—offering guidance, encouragement and a safe place to just be themselves. But we can’t do this alone. We need the community’s help to keep going.”

Funds raised through the Prize Draw will support weekly open-access youth sessions at Townsend Youth Centre and the award-winning Chatterboxes Project, a youth-led initiative for disabled young people that empowers them to express themselves and build friendships.

The money raised will go directly towards:

  • Staffing and training youth workers and volunteers
  • The opportunity to learn new skills such as cooking and other life skills
  • Supplying creative, sporting and wellbeing resources
  • Keeping the youth centre open and accessible

“By buying a ticket, you’re not just entering a prize draw—you’re helping a young person feel seen, supported and valued,” Mark added. “Even one ticket can make a huge difference. Together, we can give local young people the future they deserve.”
