YMCA Bournemouth is proud to welcome its very first group of “Mini Medics” to The Junction Sports and Leisure Centre. Ten enthusiastic young participants recently took part in the course, gaining vital lifesaving skills that can help create a safer community and support friends or family members in an emergency.
Designed specifically for young people, the Mini Medics programme uses age-appropriate language, interactive activities and hands-on learning to teach essential first aid skills. These include how to call for help, treat minor injuries, use the recovery position and recognise when someone needs urgent medical attention. The course aims to build confidence, encourage responsibility and inspire the next generation of lifesavers.
All courses are delivered by YMCA Bournemouth’s in-house NUCO approved instructor, enabling the charity to provide high-quality, affordable training to local communities.
Course details can be found on the YMCA Bournemouth website: https://www.ymcabournemouth.org.uk/training-courses/
Sammy T, a parent of two participants, shared their experience:
“Mini Medics provided an excellent learning opportunity for my 10 and 12 year old. Both children gained a great deal from the insightful programme. The training was practical, relevant and thorough. I would not hesitate to recommend it.”
