About the position:

We are looking for a Child Contact Centre Practitioner to join our team, to enable families who do not live together to see each other in a safe environment. As part of the role, you will contribute to planning, organising, recording and reporting family time sessions.

This role will involve:

  • Supervising and assessing family time, providing support and guidance to children and families as appropriate before, during and after contact
  • Taking appropriate action to protect children’s safety and welfare, intervening where this is threatened and terminating the contact if deemed necessary
  • Supporting parents and carers to set up the contact area before each session, ensuring the areas is safe, toys and resources are appropriate for the child or young person, and paperwork is ready and cleared away at the end of the session
  • Prepare and maintain case records and details of contact
  • Debriefing with line managers after family time.

Qualifications and experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant area (essential)
  • Experience of working effectively in childcare settings, education and/or with troubled families (essential)
  • Safeguarding (desirable)
  • Child protection (desirable)

Additional information:

  • The role has a statutory, occupational requirement to ensure the safety and welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk that they may come across using our services. The post holder will take responsibility for ensuring safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk as a priority and follow both YMCA Bournemouth safeguarding policy and BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership and Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership statutory guidance.
  • Employment will be subject to satisfactory references, right to work checks and a Disclosure and Barring Service check. If the role involves regulated activity with children or adults at risk, your employment will be subject to an Enhanced level DBS check prior to commencement date. All other applicable roles will be subject to a Basic level DBS check prior to commencement date.
