About the position:
We are looking for a Child Contact Centre Administrator and Receptionist to join our team and provide an efficient, professional administrative service to clients, staff and others using the Contact Centre. As part of the role, you will work within the Contact Centre ensuring professional relationships are established and maintained with families whilst setting up family time from initial enquiry to pre-contact visit, and beyond, liaising with other professionals if required.
This role will involve:
- Dealing with telephone enquiries
- Ensuring all information is recorded securely on the database
- Being a deputy designated safeguarding lead
- Acting as Relief Contact Supervisor if required
- Compiling quarterly data returns and submitting them to NACCC

Skills and competencies:
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding and child protection, equal opportunities, data protection, confidentiality, health and safety
- The ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders by telephone, email or in reports
- Effective use of IT packages for word processing, data handling and spreadsheets
Personal attributes:
- Empathy and understanding of the needs of parents and carers
- Resilience when dealing with challenging situations
- Committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children, young people and families
Qualifications and experience:
- GCSE English and maths (essential)
- Safeguarding level 3 or willingness to train (essential)
- First aid trained (desirable)
- Risk assessment experience (desirable)

Additional information:
- The role has a statutory, occupational requirement to ensure the safety and welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk that they may come across using our services. The post holder will take responsibility for ensuring safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk as a priority and follow both YMCA Bournemouth safeguarding policy and BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership and Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership statutory guidance.
- Employment will be subject to satisfactory references, right to work checks and a Disclosure and Barring Service check. If the role involves regulated activity with children or adults at risk, your employment will be subject to an Enhanced level DBS check prior to commencement date. All other applicable roles will be subject to a Basic level DBS check prior to commencement date.
