We offer two Level Three emergency paediatric first aid courses, one lasting a single day and the other lasting two days. The one-day course is aimed at individuals and small companies looking to increase their paediatric first aid competence, or parents/grandparents wanting to gain knowledge in an emergency situation for their child. The two-day course fulfils the requirements for first aid training detailed in the Department for Education’s statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage

 

Level Three Emergency Paediatric First Aid

– One Day

 

Course Contents

This course runs for six hours and thirty minutes, between 9.30am – 4pm and can serve a maximum of 12 people.

  • Role of the Paediatric First Aider
  • Seizures
  • Primary survey
  • Choking
  • Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)
  • Minor injuries
  • Wounds, bleeding and shock
  • Recovery position

Prerequisites

This qualification is available to those over 16 years. No previous knowledge is required, although it is recommended that learners have a minimum of Level one literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

About the Qualification

A Level Three Qualification in Emergency Paediatric First Aid will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment.

Re-qualification is recommended after three years.

Learning Outcomes

All learners will have the skills and knowledge as well as practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid conditions and situations. The individual will have successfully learnt the course content which is designed to meet current UK legislation.

  • Role of the Paediatric First Aider
  • Seizure
  • Primary survey
  • Choking
  • Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)
  • Minor injuries
  • Wounds, bleeding and shock
  • Recovery position
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • Asthma
  • Meningitis
  • Recovery position
  • Febrile convulsions
  • Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis
  • Fractures
  • Extreme cold and heat
  • Head, neck and back injuries
  • Foreign bodies
  • Electrical incidents

Prerequisites

This qualification is available to those over 16 years. No previous knowledge is required, although it is recommended that learners have a minimum of Level one literacy and numeracy or equivalent. All sessions must be attended to gain the qualification.
