About the position:
We are looking for a Manager on Duty with a passion for the health and fitness industry to join our team at The Junction Sports and Leisure Centre. This role will involve supporting management in the delivery of the centre’s operational activities and services, as well as other YMCA sites as required, ensuring delivery is highly professional and customer focused.
This role will involve:
- Assisting in managing, organising and taking part in all aspects of the centre’s day to day operations
- Working across several departments as and when required and ensuring all shifts and events are covered by staff
- Assisting in managing, coordinating and monitoring the recreational assistant team on duty during shifts, ensuring that all lifeguard duties, required document checks and daily responsibilities are completed in line with company policy/procedure
- Being responsible for ensuring compliance with legislation and administering first aid as and when required

- Good time management, administration and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- The ability to prioritise and produce results to demanding deadlines and work on several key issues simultaneously
- A self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to work as part of a team, inspire, motivate and direct others
- Good IT
- Good first aid skills
Personal attributes:
- Perform well in a team environment and have a flexible ‘can do’ results driven approach and attitude to tasks and the workload
Qualifications and experience:
- Leisure management qualification (level 2 or above)
- First aid
- Coaching
- Customer care

Additional information:
- The role has a statutory, occupational requirement to ensure the safety and welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk that they may come across using our services. The post holder will take responsibility for ensuring safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk as a priority and follow both YMCA Bournemouth safeguarding policy and BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership and Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership statutory guidance.

If the role involves regulated activity with children or adults at risk, your employment will be subject to an Enhanced level DBS check prior to commencement date.
