Level 3 – Safe Manual Handling within the Workplace

Course Contents

This course runs for three hours and can serve a maximum of 12 people.

  • Understand the reasons for safer manual handling
  • Appreciate the basic requirements outlined in the Manual Handling Operation Regulations 1992 – amended 2002
  • Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety
  • Be able to apply safer manual handling principles

Prerequisites

This qualification is available to those over 14 years of age. Candidates should be physically capable of undertaking practical tasks in a safe manner. No previous knowledge is required, although it is recommended that learners have a minimum of Level one literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

About the Qualification

Re-qualification is recommended after three years.

Learning Outcomes

This qualification indicates the individual can understand and apply the principles of safe manual handling in the workplace. The individual will have successfully learnt the course content which is designed to meet current UK legislation.

Attendees should remember to bring one form of photographic ID e.g. passport, driving licence, or two forms of non-photographic ID e.g. birth certificate, utility bill.

There is a short multiple choice questionnaire to pass this course.
