22 March 2022

In March 2022 a meeting took place at the YMCA Bournemouth managed Junction Sports & Leisure Centre in Broadstone, which was attended by The Broadstone Neighbourhood Watch and YMCA.

The meetings focus was upon fitness & health activities for 11-17 year olds, the importance of healthy personal choices and affordability.

The BNW had a wish to support a programme locally that really could evidence a lasting and positive impact locally.

What came from this meeting is a thriving, inspiring and affordable programme for all 11-17 year olds named Fusion Fitness. There are two Gymnasium based sessions after-school everyday Monday through to Friday, these are supervised/motivating sessions that permit the world of fitness to be available and enjoyed by all 11 to 15 year olds.

These after-school Gymnasium sessions + Public Swimming sessions seven-days-a-week … can be enjoyed by all for a monthly fee of £10!

The 16-17 year olds that join The Junction under the all-inclusive GOLD Membership (unlimited Gymnasium access + Swimming Pool + Fitness Classes + Tennis) are also able to enjoy the facilities for the same monthly fee of £10!

The use of The Junction for 11-17 year olds has risen by over 400% since re-opening in April 2021, with further activities/classes/courses being looked at to increase the programme and its amazing value and impact.

“The financial support given by The Broadstone Neighbourhood Watch was the catalyst for expanding our 11-17 programme here at The Junction, with extensive promotion locally. Today’s attendees are not only thoroughly enjoying this great facility, but they are starting and continuing their healthy life journey in the best way possible.”
