In late June, local family lawyers across Hampshire and Dorset came together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Resolution.

Resolution, set up in 1982 as the Solicitors Family Law Association, is a national body of family lawyers committed to promoting a constructive approach to resolving family law issues. The organisation now has over 6,500 members nationally, with regional hubs providing training and support to enable members to practice family law in a constructive and non-confrontational way, bringing a better way to the resolution of family disputes.

The event was a great success with 120 attendees enjoying what now appears to have been one of the last balmy summer evenings of the year(!) at the Balmer Lawn Hotel in the New Forest. With the current National Chair of Resolution, Grant Cameron, being local and himself a member of Hampshire Resolution, the guests were lucky enough to hear first hand the ambitions and focus for the organisation over the coming 12 months.

As well as a celebration of everything that Resolution has achieved, and the causes that they continue to champion, the event was also a great opportunity to come together as a community of family justice professionals to raise much needed funds to support local charities that work to support separating families. Kimberley Davies, chair of Dorset Resolution, is delighted to share the good news that £1,000 of the funds raised have been donated to local YMCA contact centres which do incredible work to support local families going through a difficult time.

Dr Gareth Sherwood, YMCA Bournemouth’s CEO said:

“I am so grateful to Resolution for the support in running such an essential service. Thank you to everyone involved, we never cease to be amazed by the generosity of our community.”
